This year was the centennial celebration of the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University. Tristan and I were there to document the monumental event. We had a blast!
Both the Philharmonic and Choir traveled to New York City for this concert. The last time I was at Carnegie Hall, I was playing. This time, I was shooting. Quite a different perspective.
Here are some of my favorite shots….
In rehearsal….

Maestro Ronald Zollman conducting….

Emma Steele performed Wieniawski’s First Violin Concerto with the Philharmonic. And she OWNED it. Here she is in rehearsal…

Another special guest conductor, Dale Clevenger (a CMU School of Music alum!) conducted Schumann’s Konzertstück, Op. 86 with soloists: Brice Andrus, Bill Caballero, Peter Rubins and Howard Wall. I’ve always wanted to meet Mr. Clevenger and he is so nice and personable!

At this point, I was kicked off stage (I actually wasn’t aware that I wasn’t allowed on stage), and I caught this shot of Maestro Bob Page giving a thumbs up to his choir (who was singing Borodin’s Polovetsian Dances from Prince Igor.)

Maestro Clevenger working….

Me, working. Just kidding! I was taking a much needed break, as I was running around shooting like a chicken with its head cut off.

Here are my friends Graham Fenton and Liam Bonner (I went to school with both of these guys!). Graham is currently playing the role of Frankie Valli in the Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys. One of Liam’s most recent endeavors includes creating the role of Lieutenant Audebert in the world premiere of Silent Night at Minnesota Opera in the 2011-12 season. This production happened to win the Pulitzer Prize in Music. Not too bad, Liam.

Another alum, Manu Narayan was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening…. I don’t think he realized I was shooting him. haha!

The concert’s three maestros: Bob Page, Dale Clevenger, and Ronald Zollman. Such a handsome photo. And to show that they are pretty cool, they sword-fight with their batons! LOVE IT.

Jeffrey Behrens and Liam singing Donizetti’s La donna è un animale from L’elisir d’amore….
