KATIE VENTURA, HARP (Pittsburgh Musician Headshot Photographers)

It was a windy, but warm evening.  The clouds were absolutely perfect.  Katie and I decided that we would do her shoot outside.  Best.  Decision.  Ever.

Katie is in town subbing with the Pittsburgh Symphony, so we met up at Carnegie Mellon University (our alma mater!).

We had so much fun shooting Katie.  I was testing the flashes and temporarily blinded my trusty assistant, Tristan:

The wind was blowing REALLY hard, so I kept having to fix Katie’s hair.  The look on my face is priceless.

Here I am telling her that everything will be okay, convincing her that the harp won’t blow away.  Haha!  The wind was really strong!!!

See?  LOL

Ok ok…..back to the REAL photos….

The beautiful harp….

AMANDA MORRISON, CLARINET (Pittsburgh Musician Headshot Photographers)

Clarinetists are drawn to me like a moth to a flame.  I’ve shot more clarinetists than any other type of musician!  What gives?  haha!

Amanda contacted me a few weeks ago to do her headshots.  She is such a sweet person, and we had a great time together!  Amanda was very easy to photograph….here are some of my favorites from the day:

A FINAL FAREWELL….(Pittsburgh Musician Photographers)

My colleague and friend, Maria Sensi Sellner conducted her last concert of Carnegie Mellon University’s All University Orchestra.  She has been at the helm of this fantastic group for ten years!

Here are some of my favorite shots from the concert:

Walter Morales played Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue so beautifully….

CMU PHILHARMONIC AT CARNEGIE HALL (Classical Musician Photographers)

This year was the centennial celebration of the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University.  Tristan and I were there to document the monumental event.  We had a blast!

Both the Philharmonic and Choir traveled to New York City for this concert.  The last time I was at Carnegie Hall, I was playing.  This time, I was shooting.  Quite a different perspective.

Here are some of my favorite shots….

In rehearsal….

Maestro Ronald Zollman conducting….

Emma Steele performed Wieniawski’s First Violin Concerto with the Philharmonic.  And she OWNED it.  Here she is in rehearsal…

Another special guest conductor, Dale Clevenger (a CMU School of Music alum!) conducted Schumann’s Konzertstück, Op. 86 with soloists: Brice Andrus, Bill Caballero, Peter Rubins and Howard Wall.  I’ve always wanted to meet Mr. Clevenger and he is so nice and personable!

At this point, I was kicked off stage (I actually wasn’t aware that I wasn’t allowed on stage), and I caught this shot of Maestro Bob Page giving a thumbs up to his choir (who was singing Borodin’s Polovetsian Dances from Prince Igor.)

Maestro Clevenger working….

Me, working.  Just kidding!  I was taking a much needed break, as I was running around shooting like a chicken with its head cut off.

Here are my friends Graham Fenton and Liam Bonner (I went to school with both of these guys!).  Graham is currently playing the role of Frankie Valli in the Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys.  One of Liam’s most recent endeavors includes creating the role of Lieutenant Audebert in the world premiere of Silent Night at Minnesota Opera in the 2011-12 season.  This production happened to win the Pulitzer Prize in Music.  Not too bad, Liam.

Another alum, Manu Narayan was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening…. I don’t think he realized I was shooting him.  haha!

The concert’s three maestros: Bob Page, Dale Clevenger, and Ronald Zollman.  Such a handsome photo.  And to show that they are pretty cool, they sword-fight with their batons!  LOVE IT.

Jeffrey Behrens and Liam singing Donizetti’s La donna è un animale from L’elisir d’amore….

THE CINGOLANI FAMILY (Buhl Farm Park Casino Photographers)

I LOVED this family.  They traveled from all directions of the country to visit their mother on Easter weekend, and asked me to photograph them while they were in town.

There was this awesome swan in the lake next to the building we were shooting at….

He had a wounded swan foot:(

Aren’t their feet big?

Hello swan…
